Some builds begin with a plan. Others come together over time.

For Chloe, her 1997 Nissan S14 Kouki, known as Zooted, was one of those cars that gradually became her own. What first caught her attention was the colour, a finish that instantly reminded her of the early 2000s sex-spec era and gave the car a character she couldn’t ignore.

“The colour stood out to me. It reminded me of 2000s sex spec days.”

From there, the car slowly evolved into a clean street build with the right mix of style, power, and personality.

The Beginning

Unlike some builds that start with a strict vision, Chloe’s S14 developed naturally as she spent more time with it.

“I didn’t necessarily have a vision. The longer I owned it, the more I gradually added my own touches to it.”

What began as a car she liked quickly turned into something much more personal. The real turning point, however, came when the original engine gave up.

“The real part of the build started when the engine blew up.”

That setback became the catalyst for the next chapter of the car.

And after everything, Chloe still points to two things as her favourites.

“The Work VS-MX wheels and the external gate screamer.”

Setbacks and Turning Points

Every project has a moment that changes everything. For Chloe, that moment was losing the original motor and being forced to rebuild from the ground up.

“When the original motor blew up and I had to build a new one.”

Still, the setbacks never turned into something she couldn’t handle.

“Nothing I couldn’t overcome.”

That kind of mindset is what keeps so many builds moving forward.

Interior

Inside, the car has stayed mostly stock.

For Chloe, that was intentional. Rather than stripping it out or overcomplicating things, the goal was to keep the standard interior comfort intact.

“I like the comfort of the standard interior.”

Sometimes leaving parts of a car alone is exactly what makes the whole build work.

More Than Just a Car

For Chloe, Zooted is about the kind of driving experience that never gets old.

“Being able to jump in and go for a drive that never fails to put a smile on your face.”

That feeling is what makes certain cars special. They become more than just transport or a project. They become the car you always look for an excuse to drive.

One detail that stands out as especially memorable is that there is even a Hot Wheels version of the car, a small detail that adds another layer of personality to the build.

Favourite Moments

Some of Chloe’s best memories with the car come from taking on cars with much bigger power figures and still holding her own.

“Racing higher powered cars and keeping up or winning.”

And, of course, there is also the small matter of the screamer pipe.

“And scaring my mum with the screamer.”

That feels very on-brand for an S-chassis.

The Future

Like every good build, Zooted is far from finished.

“Always evolving.”

While Chloe still loves the colour that originally drew her to the car, the next step is likely paint, adding an even more personalised touch to the build.
